I'm new on the net and just discovered this beautiful web
site. I'm not affiliated with any buddhist school/or
practice but have read quite a bit of zen and tibetan
traditions. I've always been a little curious about the
actual buddhist belief of where/what we become after our
current life, as opposed to the Christian belief that
their physical bodies will be resurrected in a heaven.
Also a recent article in a local paper discussed the
experience of Christians showing up in Japan with an in
terest in practicing zen meditation but feeling the con
flict that it doesn't sit well with their faith. A zen
teacher there explained that there is no conflict because
in buddhism there is nothing to convert to, although (he
said)"I hope you go to Mass with a zen attitude." That
really intrigued me as I remembered all too well my early
years of going to church and knowing that my mind (along
with half the other minds)were probably somewhere else.
