Jee, I hope it's not too late, Gin, for this to be helpful in you paper (if it is helpful), but the to this Buddhist, the Four Noble Truths and the 8-Fold Path are the essence of the Buddhist practice. This is because they emphasize practice, of body, speech, and mind. They are tools that encourage investigation into "how things are" and encourage each person to shape their body, speech and mind in such a way that will support both the above investigation and a lifestyle that will benefit themselves and others. All of the Buddha's teaching and methods, as well as the teaching and methods of all Buddhist Masters since, from all authentic Buddhist schools, are contained within the 4 Noble Truths.

Good luck on your paper.

David
