: Does the idea of attaining parinirvana scare anyone apart from me? I understand it's supposed to be indiscribable bliss but the idea still scares me. I've heard it described as beyond space and time, formless, and eternal. It is so alien to the form of existance I'm used to (being a human experiencing the passage of time). I think it's the fact that it is eternal and beyond time that scares me the most. Does anyone or did anyone used to feel this way too, or have I misunderstood the idea of parinirvana?

I am also scared of parinirvana , althought the othe responces did not, if norvana is a state of mind that is only understandable when it is attained , and it is the ultimate halt to suffering, the end of the infinite rebirth cicle, it doesnot describe the reality in the next stage, parinirvana: when the enlightened budda reach the end of his/hers days.
it does scare my because it is saith to be the end of the rebirth, the end of sensations and perceptions, the end of suffering the end of existance as we know it.
in the other hand when you have achived nirvana, you are unafected by sufering, then it also should restrain fear.in nirvana you understand that life is just a path of suffering, that is the first noble truth in wich i believe but my guts hardly accept it, i gess thats because i have achieved no enlightement yet.
