Well........ Buddhism is the same everywhere. Be it Zen, Mahayana, Thevarada or any other. Since the zen temple is the only one availabe at the moment, but does not really suit your taste. I feel that you could always go to the temple and learn whatever you can from the place, while joinning bits and pieces of what you prefer in to the practise. There are no limitations in Buddhism. Just make sure you do not go to the wrong path thats all.
Walking the middle path is having no preferences. Accepting everything that comes along without clinging. Even the slightest thing, like being able to accept the fact that practising buddhism alone, without much help is walking the middle path. Just keep doing what you feel is right. Buddhism is everywhere and everything. You just have to seek it. Take care
