Andreas,
Enjoy you retreat! I lived at a soto zen center for over a year
and just ask questions and keep silent when you are supposed to. Use
this opportunity for sitting practice and inner
reflextion. The way I greet monks in the Korean Zen(Chogye) is a bow,
or if a master or senior monk, 3 prostrations. It really
depends on the individual school. I'd get hold of the abbot or representative
and ask them. Metta means "loving-kindness". At least that's
my understanding. Enjoy this opportunity.

Peace always, Stephen Pema Dorje
