In Reply to: Actually, how many Great Compassionate Mantra are there? posted by wahyin on May 26, 2000 at 20:36:23:
: I know there are at least three versions of the Great Compassionate Dharani in Sanskrit. The first version is a long mantra where the Chinese used to chant "Tai Pei Jou" or "the 84 Deities" which starts with Namo Ratnatrayaya, Namo Aryavalokitesvaraya.....quite long ending with Mantrapadaya Svaha. The second version is a shorter one that starts with Namo Ratnatrayaya......and ends with Cintamuni, Mahapadme, Dhuru Thista, Juala Akon Svaraya, Om Bat Svaha.
: The third one starts with the same..namo ratnatrayaya, namo aryachana, sakara vairocana.....ends with Chite Juara Mapanaya Svaha.
: May someone enlightens me which one to chant or is it that we have to chant all the three versions.
: Thank you so much.
