I agree. it took me a while to realise that the 'god' to which i prayed was only a construct of my mind. when i say 'i believe in god' i am already making a mistake. when we cease to imagine a perfect being who watches over us and waits for us to pray, then we have a better chance to gain a greater understanding of ourselves.
To tell yourself that you believe in one god, or sixteen gods, or no god, places to much faith in your own mind which has truly created your 'god'.
How many people do foolish and violent things for the sake of their 'god'. this is not god, this is some notion which plays an important place in their mind.
Lets forget about how many gods there are, and whether they are vengeful or merciful. if we can understand ourselves completely, then maybe we can move on to the harder stuff.
