Relax a little. Don't get in a rush to do such drastic things, you can learn about most anything you want to, except for their lanuage, at home. Besides, moveing to a Tibetan monistery is not only dangerious (Chinese are killing monks and nuns) but unnesecary. First you should actually learn and practice Buddhism before wanting to sign your life away to a monistery. Then after a good while in laylife, you can look into monistery; and they have them in many other, safer, places. Right now I'm just an early comer to your post, others will offer advice too. My advice though, is to look up Buddhist temples or centers in your area (phone book) and check any of them out, check as many as possible. If you cannot find a center, try books. Take a peek at `Buddhism' post by Phil and the responses. I list my books for you to see. Anyway, keep cool, you have time and plenty of resources if you look hard enough. Don't do anything rash, investigate and consider your options. Metta.
