Dear Susan:

I've taken the Powa with Lama Ole several times, an it is an unique experience.
If someone gives information of a secret practice like this, then one generates a very negative karma (your life will be shorter, you would die before you should). Any expectative about this practice could be negative. So as less as you know better.

I just can tell you that this is a practice to learn how to die, and you will purify all your negative karma, believe it or not. You should have very clear before this practice the differences between Buddhism and Theist religions, because it could create confusion, specially in the topic of "salvation".
Please assist, do whatever you can to assist. It's very difficult to have so great karma as yours to be in contact with a vajrayana practice like this directly from 16ht Karmapa. You are very lucky.
As preliminary practices, if you know them, practice the Vajrasatva meditation and Amithaba meditation as much as you can (in tibet you had to meditate in them saying their mantra 100,000 times before powa).

Best Regards

I am sadly lacking information on this subject and hoping someone will help me. Lama Ole Nydahl is coming this way in November and I have known him many years and he well known for this subject. I understand when the Lamas do it but what I need to know is the following:
: 1. What is Powa and its meaning?
: 2. Whay should one do this empowerment?
: 3. What are the success signs?
: 4. Is this to benefit us in this life or in the process of one's own death?

: Please make it simple, my mind is like a childs.
: Thank you for any response, its more than I know at the moment. Any suggestions in book form?

: Susan
