: I am from the U.S. Michigan. I have only read a couple of books on Buddism. After reading a few qoutes over the years my curiosity became intense as I felt the qoutes "spoke to me". Now after doing some reading I do feel inspired but, also somewhat confused and I guess alittle scared? Is that normal or perhaps I just don't "get It"?????
It's very natural to feel a little scared when we try something new with our lives, like Buddhism. Buddhism makes us face up to the facts that our lives are full of suffering and we have to make an effort to end that suffering. This isn't an easy thing to accept. But anyone on this forum can tell you that intergrating Buddhist teachings into your life is well worth the perseverance. As for the confusion, Buddhism is a religion with many texts and teachings. You'll be lucky to meet someone who understands every word of every sutra. I consider myself to understand only a fraction of the Dharma and I've been Buddhist for about four years now. The path to understanding our Buddha nature is long but well worth the effort. Good luck on your quest.
