Don't worry about feeling overwhelmed!

When I started to practice Buddhism, I wanted to understand everything all at once.

But practicing Buddhism in the West requires learning an Eastern outlook on life and that takes time. There are also words we need to relearn, like attachment, suffering and compassion in the Buddhist meanings.

Be patient, give yourself time or you may turn away and miss a valuable experience.

Just start with what you have and build on that. I've been studying for a year now and I'm constantly coming across new ideas and concepts.

Think of Buddhism as a new language or learning higher math. First you must learn the basics and build the foundation. After that we can add to the foundation.

Please feel free to e-mail me if you feel a need to talk! (I'm just across the lake, in Madison Wisconsin!)
