Dear Pam,
Don't worry about the fear, confusion, etc. Just learn
basic buddhist doctrine and meditation. Reading is good,
but meditation is also very vital to your progressing
on the path you have chosen. Remeber that Buddha nature,
or the ability to cut through delusions and attachments is
aleady within you. It's not outside of you for you
to someday grab. Through studying, meditation and an ethical
life, "it" will all come up from within. It tales alot of effort,
time and faith in what you are doing. Not faith in the normally
thought of definition. But faith as in lack of doubt.
Good luck Pam and use "right effort".

Peace to you on your new practice,

Stephen Pema Dorje
