: Yes, thank you for all of your help. I get the feeling (based on your 30+ years of experience) you could go on for a long time, this is not necessary. I do wounder about the "White Lotus Club", what did they do exactly? And I do see about the Sutras difficulty, "Whoosh!" as a many went over my head:) At any rate, thank you. Metta.

You are welcome. Your own direction and pace is the only right thing to do. I am more than happy to give a "begginer" version of the subject if you want.

This website gave many historical facts about this secret society (after 600 CE, Common Era, the same as AD).

Many of the farmer rebellions came under this name. You might be able to find more information under websites and books for Chinese Secret Society.

There have been several "things" done by the White Lotus Club/Society in the past 1200+ years.
(1) When the taxes are too heavy (on the farmers), they organize military rebellion against the government and establish their own government.
(2) When the "foreign devils" (Mogolian, and later Manchu) are in power, they organize military rebellion to overthrow the government.
(3) When the "foreign devils" (European cuntries, American, and Japanese in the 19th century) are "doing evil things to the society", they did the rebellion (with support from some government officials).
(4) When the society is bad (any time in history), they spread the "rumor": the world is coming to an end. Do YOU want to be saved?
(The current Daoist group: One-Unity Dao might be a offspring of the White Lotus Society...)
