: I am from the U.S. Michigan. I have only read a couple of books on Buddism. After reading a few qoutes over the years my curiosity became intense as I felt the qoutes "spoke to me". Now after doing some reading I do feel inspired but, also somewhat confused and I guess alittle scared? Is that normal or perhaps I just don't "get It"?????
Forget about (trying to understand) Buddhism. Try it this way: what's in it for me? What kind of goodies can it offer?
There must be a reason you get in touch with Buddhism, something you want to cultivate or something you want to reduce. Work on whatever is working for you.
Don't try to take all the toys in the store. Just pick whatever catches your eyes.
After 30+ years of reading, "less is better". It is only natural to get (or want) more. It is the daily practice to know when to say when.
