Sam, I agree. But I think the teachings by teachers change due to location, culture, the education of the students/disciples and above all time. Hinayana teachings from Sri Lanka differ from Tibetan which differs from Japan which is changing here. That's what's so beautiful. Just as long as the basics are still intact (love, compassion and caring for all beings), it doesn't really matter how we get there, as long as others aren't caused to suffer because of our actions.
