Hey, your doing fine. I don't have a linerage and likely never will. What your don't is fine, but Buddhism is based on the 3 higher training... that of ethics, concentration and Wisdom. So If you practice Ethic and meditate and live minfully, the third will begin to develop (How can we pracitce wisdom if were still deluded). These are the trainings of Buddhism and are outside of all linerage... so they are what is to be practiced. Also, the trainings are really only the 8 fold path condensed into it's three underlying. If you must have a linerage try saying somthing like "The nosectarian" linerage... it sounds right, and I think there really is one by that name. It implies not being of any sect. When practicing adopt those practices which are interesting, but above all they should help advance you. If you read about Zen and find you like the way they concentrat on Meditation, consider basing your practice on Zen. This is just an example, many people do like wise with the Tibetan Buddhism; that is, they base ttheir practice on it. I hope this is helpful... Also, read lot's so you have plenty of theory to put into practice. I could of course list everything I've read if you want, but have done so through out the forum... just go post surfing and you will find much. Metta.
