Work on what makes you like Buddha's teaching first.
Everybody has special baggage, so to speak.
Learn to unload the unnecessary stuff first.
You will have plenty of time to read later, provided you like to read.

(My own experience: learn what I can control and what I can't control. Learn to control whatever I can control with good intention.
Learn to accept and go with whatever I can't control. Hint: there are not much, at least for me, beyond my own breathing...
Then, I read 2-4 hours everyday, well, "almost", "most of the time", "when I can", you know...
My wife meditates that much, and reads about the amount of time of my meditation...)
