: could any buddhist tell me please, whether or not it is advisable to follow simply the teachings of the buddha and ignore as much as possible the various interpretations, appendages, rituals, etc. that seem to get tacked onto it?
: also does anybody know anything about buddhism's reliance upon hindu theology? i guess that it is similar to the christian emergence from jewish culture?
: thankyou, seer (there is no seer) (joke)
Why even carry the baggage of Buddha's teaching at all? Chances are we don't even knwo what is actually taught by Buddha, what is only an interpretation.
Why can't you trust yourself? Use whatever people said about Buddha's teaching only as a secondary reference.
