Don't feel that by not eating meat you are not "progressed." One of the greatest things about "modern" Buddhism is choice -- judging from the comments posted here, you don't have to give up meat if you don't want to. Being a vegetarian doesn't make me a better Buddhist (I'm not strictly Buddhist, anyway) nor a better person. It just makes me who I am. If you feel you should give up meat -- for your own convictions -- then do so at your own pace. But if you're uncomfortable giving up meat, then don't. No one says you have to. The Eightfold Path includes Right Action and Right Intention, not "Right Diet." You sound like you're doing fine on your own path.

Peace and much compassion.... Sam:)
