Confused (Which, isn't new :)

Being fairly new to Buddhism, I have read various literature, and, of course, have run into conflicting opinons and statements. I guess what's the most confusing to me, is that from what I understand, Buddhism does not believe in Gods, celestial beings, Hell and Heaven, etc....yet i have read references to such...can anyone help?
