: In my search for knowledge on Buddhism, I inevitably come across information on Hinduism, which, honestly, have not read anything on. I was wondering what the major differences are, it seems that these two are very closely related. Thanks to all who helped on my first question, and I will apologize in advance, I tend to and will ask a lot of questions......

Don't know Hinduism. Buddha grew up learning Hinduism (if that can be counted as an -ism at all).

However, I read that the most important difference is right on the 3rd Noble Truth. No matter how to explain suffering and the cause(s) of suffering, Buddha teaches that the suffering can be stopped here and now.
