There is only one real world, it's Mahanirvana. All other realms, including realms of gods, human realm, animal realm, hell, are only illussions, created by ignorant consciousness. They don't exist as reality for enlightened beings. But, of course, these illusions are strong. The experience of hell or celestial realms is equally realistic in it's plenty and variety, catching our minds, receptors, involving us in actions and emotions, like our current human life. The beings in hell or celestial realms also are born, have bodies, die, act, speak, think, seek for happinness, avoid sufferings, etc.But these things are illusionary. The hell, the human realm, other realms really exist, but only as an illusion. When illusion goes away, these worlds end their existence.Metta.
: Being fairly new to Buddhism, I have read various literature, and, of course, have run into conflicting opinons and statements. I guess what's the most confusing to me, is that from what I understand, Buddhism does not believe in Gods, celestial beings, Hell and Heaven, etc....yet i have read references to such...can anyone help?
