: Dear Stephen,
: Thank you for you reply. I have truly come to believe in the inconnectedness of everything in the universe. This makes perfect sense to me since we are all made up of the same basic elements. Therefore, through this connectedness, we can effect all those around us as well as others who are many miles away, simply through our spiritual pracice. This is the focus of much of my meditation. It is best illustrated to me through Shantideva's "Guide To The Bodhisatvas Way of Life" in which he states, "May I be a guard for those who are protectorless, A guide for those who journey on the road, and for all who wish to cross the water, a boat, a raft, a bridge. etc..." I believe that by visualizing yourself as all things for everyone, you are truly connected. I have, since a very early age, known that I was destined for a spiritual way of life (even at 6 years old when I wanted to become a Catholic priest). It is only unfortunate that it took me 43 years to find where I was comfortable. Now I feel that every moment should be spent making up for lost time. Unfortunately again, the western influence has a firm hold on me and it is difficult to form a consistent practice. Western laziness is what I call it (too much to do and too little time).
Peace to you and may all your meditations be fruitful.
