There's no point in explaining it 'through buddhism' or through christianity, if your relative asks this question out of curiosity, it is foolish to indulge the superficial questions; if they ask in order to prove that buddhism is flawed, they will have a shallow victory; it is a waste of time to test the logic of a religion with every extreme example. the point of buddhism is not to do with re-interpreting tragic occasions through different belief systems.
