Thank you Sergio for the advice. I agree wholeheartedly that I should not create problems regarding the inclusion of Buddhist traditions in the Jewish ceremony against the families wishes. That is not the issue in this case, as we are having a jewish officiant, but the wedding is not going to be strictly traditionally jewish. It was, in fact, another rabbi who suggested incorporating a Buddhist reading. I think this would be meaningful to include both spiritualities as part of a wedding between two of differing spiritual beliefs.
If you have any suggestions for readings to be incorporated, I would greatly appreciate them.
