What a nice surprise to find this forum! I was first introduced to eastern thought about six years, primarily Taoist, and was drawn immediately into its clutches. As one coming from a fundamental Christian background, this was quite a departure for me. Iím thankful for Joseph Campbell, who helped tear away the rigid and smothering illusions, and led me to see how my rigid beliefs were causing me so much suffering. One does need a teacher, but not necessarily in person! It did take some time to accept that is was ok for me to follow a new path, as Campbell said to follow your path, even at the risk of going to hell. What freedom! And I wish to thank Peter Fenner (www.widom.org) for introducing me to a taste of Dzogchen, of emptiness, and what Peter calls intrinsic freedom. More recently, I have adopted a guru from afar, Tsoknyi Rinpoche. I hope to meet him in person some day. Thank you for providing this wonderful forum. I look forward to getting to know everyone!
